I START TO SMILE is a song I composed about someone who changed my life. I think we all know someone who magically appeared in our life journey at just the right time. I have several. I START TO SMILE is about the feeling I get whenever I think of them. Even if everything is going wrong, when I think of you, I always start to smile.

I am  certain that there are many, many people just like me who felt as if they didn't fit in with the other kids their age as we were growing up. There are probably many reasons for this to be. In my case, instead of being satisfied and drawn to ball sports, I was drawn to reading voraciously, consuming the popular music that my parents sang along to in the car, and trying to share my emotions through writing.   CHOOSE ME is a song I composed about the feeling of wanting to fit in. It took me decades of growing up to realize that the only one I need to "choose me" is me. As a grown man now, I'm no more like a bough blown in the breeze. No more do I bleed from a painful need to constantly please. I am now at peace. I've made my mind cease to want to fit it.
