A Butterfly To Be written by Steven Skelley

I am  certain that there are many, many people just like me who felt as if they didn't fit in with the other kids their age as we were growing up. There are probably many reasons for this to be. In my case, instead of being satisfied and drawn to ball sports, I was drawn to reading voraciously, consuming the popular music that my parents sang along to in the car, and trying to share my emotions through writing. Did you feel different as a child and maybe even now? Then this song is for us, you and me. I titled it A Butterfly To Be.

I was born to observe

They saw straight lines

I saw the curve

 

I knew as a child

I was not the same

They fought for position

I hated that game

 

I knew as a child

I had to make art

They saw with their eyes

I saw with my heart

 

I knew as a child

There was more to me

They saw a caterpillar

I saw a butterfly to be

  SEE YOU LATER by Steven Skelley SEE YOU LATER is a song I composed because of wonderful memories from my maternal grandmother. She never used the phrase goodbye. She always said see-you-later. If I made the mistake of saying "Goodbye, Grandma," she would always remind me, "This is not goodbye. It's just another see you later." When she passed on from this life, I was comforted in knowing the wisdom of her words: this wasn't goodbye. It was just another see-you-later. Hugs, Steven
